Federalism is good because it divides the power among the government and the state. It allows local and state government to make laws about certain things and the national government to make laws about other things. The central government which functions to keep the country working as one can keep the states or an individual from having too much power. The states has the right to make their own laws as long as they don't contradict the the laws made by the state government.

Give some examples of Federalism. What are some laws that differ according to the Federal, State, and Local governments? (This is the fun part as some laws vary wildly from place to place).

1. You cant own guns in some states. Like in New York you cant own a gun while in western place such as Texas its okay to have guns and use them.

2. The government bannned death sentence while in texas 100 people are killed evey year for crimes they comitted.

Election 08

Blog #6 - Title of Blog - "Election 08". Explain you reaction to last nights election. Questions to consider: Why did Obama have such a clear victory - what has been going on that made so many people vote Democrat? What are some of the key states that Obama won? Did you think the election was going to be closer? And now what? What are some of the challenges that Obama faces? Also, people all over the world were happy that Obama won - why? NY Times. When I found out that Obama won I screamed out of joy because I wanted him to win. I think that Obama won because he can relate to the typical americans meaning people like us. His viewpoints on the problem going on in the world and the solution needed to resolve these problems are similar to ours. Almost everyone voted for Obama becuase they agree with him about stopping the war in Iraq and also how we can fix our economy without causing more problems. I dont think that MaCain had any chance againts Obama. I think that the world loves Obama because they hate Bush. They hated him for being the bully and the war in Iraq. They support Obama because they know that the unjustice caused by Bush wont repeat if Obama is the new president.
